Staring mindlessly into the tank, attempting to meld with its contents like something from Annihilation, Speechless first became aware of occasionally motile, seemingly animated motes, perhaps a millimetre across. Little smol squishy bois.

The increased demand on the environment of the paludarium, produced by the introduction of cute little baby fish, had an instantaneous effect on the fragile mind of Speechless, whose whole higher consciousness clearly teeters on the edge of a deep ravine, where even the most minor stimulus can push him over into wallowing in nerdy microbiology. The result usually looks like this:

With Speechless and Fearless having between them only some absolute minimum reserve of free time, it remains remarkable that so many delightful mornings end up getting spent on the shores of Lake Random.

In an act representing a ridiculous misinterpretation of his post-operative care instructions, Speechless ambled unsteadily into a nearby aquarium shop and impulse-bought a small glass aquarium after a minor invasive procedure. The main stimulus for this was a dopamine excess stimulated by the presence of Fearless, as well as their boundless enthusiasm for, and profound knowledge of, deep aquarium lore.
